An absolute ripper of a day here in Perth and trundled around the river with a mate from work who is training for the ironman triathlon. I am not as young or fit as I used to be and I am sure I will stop sweating in a few hours.

Happy 30th Birthday to Matty J.

Land of the long weekend and looking forward to the mighty Eagles avenging for last year.

Lachlan likes to drill.

We are 'spruicing' up our current place and painted our grey fence a nice pooh browny colour (surprisingly they can go in the same sentence together) and then built a brushwood fence to cover up the shed.

Without the help of Lachlan, I don't Dad and I would have succeeded in building a strong solid structure that looks great, if I do say so myself. Although I was keen to just staple the stupid thing to the shed I am very proud of the manly achievement and have the dirt under my finger nails to prove it.

Lachlan has also stood firm with the Dockers after they lost the prelim while the Eagles go marching towards their next flag so I withdraw my fair weathering insult.

The brickwork has been completed and we now await the arrival of the 'roofie'.

All of the timber is piled up at the front and when the rain stops when I am at home will snap some updated pictures.

Deanne and I had the pleasure of watching the Eagles smash the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night and march on to the Preliminary Final next week from the protection of a corporate box. You don't feel the crowd as much but the food and drinks make up for it.

We returned home to pick the boys up only to discover that Lachlan has been telling everyone that he is in fact a Dockers supporter like his Nana and Uncle Brett. He has been steadfast in his refusal to back down from such a silly idea despite the fact that his toys have started to mysteriously disappear.

However, he seemed to becoming around when at dinner last night he advised us that he was an Eagles man but I get the feeling that we may have a little fair-weathered friend in the family.

This is one of my favourite photos of Deanne and Lachlan.

In case you are guessing what they are doing, they were riding a quadbike at Anthony's party at the farm and having a grand old time.

Lachlan went for his first surf last weekend. It was a nice day with a slight offshore and after standing on the beach for a little while he decided to paddle out and take on the fast breaking left hander of the shallow sand bank.

After surfring around Bodie and Warchild (think 50 year storm at Bells Beach Australia) he hit some trouble.

What hurt him most was not the sand in all parts, or the fact that I got it on camera it was the fact that Aunty Cass just laughed at him!

Was saddened by the passing of Steve Irwin. Thought he was a fantastic bloke and lived life the max.

On a happier note, those house is going great guns with all of the exterior walls up and nearly all of the interior walls completed. It is pretty exciting to see all the rooms, how much space we do or don't have and what the view out of our spa will be.
